At our core, RSL LifeCare provides care and services to veterans and seniors who live in our communities or are receiving support at home. Our vision of creating proud communities living their best lives is at the heart of everything we do as we continue to build upon our legacy of supporting veterans and their families for more than 100 years.

This is an opportunity for you to join a large social purpose organisation where your skills and compassion will be valued, enabling you to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.

You will help deliver holistic wellbeing support to veterans transitioning into stable housing and community life.

Our Veteran Housing Wellbeing Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting veterans to build daily living skills, improve health and wellbeing, and foster social connection. You’ll coordinate structured programs and activities, link veterans to community services, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure recovery goals are met.

As a new role within the team, you will be expected to take responsibility for establishing the position within the program, putting structure in place and meeting deliverables.

This role is offered on a Fixed Term Basis: 24 months

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Facilitate group sessions and activities that promote life skills, social participation, and wellness
  • Connect veterans with local services, community programs, and DVA-funded initiatives
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of structured programs aligned with veteran interests
  • Work collaboratively with the Housing Team to deliver integrated wellbeing support
  • Build strong networks with external service providers and veteran organisations
  • Ensure compliance with record management and organisational policies

To succeed in this role we’d expect you to have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with individuals with complex needs
  • Knowledge of Defence, ESO, and veteran communities
  • Experience in trauma-informed, recovery-oriented support
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends
  • Experience with Australian Defence Force personnel or not-for-profit organisations is an advantage

Benefits of working with RSL LifeCare:

  • Not-for-profit tax benefits - salary packaging of up to $15,900 per year. This allows you to reduce your taxable income by receiving part of your salary as tax-free benefits like super contributions, car leasing, and more
  • Staff discounts across 700 select retail stores through Maxxia Rewards
  • Fitness Passport
  • Leave Loading: 17.5% pay top up on paid leave
  • Plus, you’ll be working with a supportive team committed to veteran wellbeing

Our commitment to diversity: We are proud to stand for our unique values: Do the Right Thing, Aim Higher, Care from the Heart, and Act as One team.

We welcome and encourage applications from people across our diverse community, especially from Veterans, current serving ADF personnel, their families and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. We believe everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, valued and heard regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or disability.

It is a mandatory requirement for a team member working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid Police Check or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of the role. Clearances must be verified prior to commencing employment with RSL LifeCare.
